Christmas Stockings-August 2010

I have made TONS of these. Seriously! Last year I made about 15 for co-workers. This year I have made 10 so far for different friends. I embroider their names into the top. Several years ago I made my whole family blue and white stockings for Christmas. When I get them out I will take a picture and post it. But I can't get anything out of the Christmas closet until Thanksgiving evening...that's a rule!

For my grand-daughter-September 2010

This is going to be for my grand-daughter. I haven't decided if it is going to be for Christmas or for her birthday. Birthday comes first. The doll will have a sweater just like the one for my grand-daughter. The doll was easy to make except for the hair. I HATE the hair. It is now on her head, and not coming off, but I hate it! As for the sweater this has got to be the worst pattern ever written! I have had to fix and fiddle and change so many things in this pattern. Both for the doll sweater and the little girl sweater. I doubt that I will ever use this pattern again. But I have made notes so that if for some reason I do I will hopefully be able to follow MY directions to make the finished product useable. I hope to post a picture with the doll's sweater on when I finish it. Also I will make 2 matching berets for them to wear. So maybe some of that nasty doll hair will be covered!

Here's the finished doll...I'm so not impressed! I hate this pattern and will never do it again. I think the doll is ugly and the pattern doesn't fit her for the sweater or the hat.

Sweater-August 2010

I made this sweater for my mother-in-law for Christmas. So I haven't given it to her. I will get her a turtleneck shirt to go under it. It is a brown varigated yarn. I thought it turned out pretty. It is from a pattern that I have used before for her. The buttons are from a tub of buttons that I found and snagged from my grandparents estate sale. Don't know if they are antique, but I'm always looking for buttons so I put them to good use.

My Crochet Journey So Far

I learned to crochet when I was 16. My Great Grandmother was living with us at the time. She was a prolific crocheter. I had broken up with a boyfriend and was moping around the house. My Grandmother couldn't stand it so she sat me down and taught me how to crochet. She taught me how to crochet the granny square and let me tell you that that was the HUGEST granny square afghan that anyone has ever made! I just kept going and going and going! I slowly branched out from making afghans to making sweaters and other things. I don't intend to post patterns because these are not my original designs. I just thought it would be fun to have some sort of record of what I have made and who it went to.
