Finished afghan!

This is a Christmas gift for a friend's family. I got the pattern out of this book:

Monkey Snuggle Blanket-September 2013

 I made this cute little blanket for a sweet little 3 year old. She's probably too big for a snuggle blankie, but I thought she could use it for her dolls or even as a companion at bedtime. Besides the fact I have wanted to make one of these for forever!! The blanket part was fairly quick going. The monkey part was a bit more tedious. I thought it turned out pretty stinkin cute if I do say so myself!

I bought the pattern book from Annie's Crafts.

Christmas Tree Skirt-August 2013

I made this Christmas Tree skirt for my daughter. They recently moved from Texas and are Dallas Cowboy fans. They decorate their house for Christmas in the Cowboys colors. One project done for Christmas...several more to go. August has almost come to an end. Time is getting away from me!

This pattern is from a Leisure Arts leaflet that I bought several years ago at a library sale. Copyrighted in 1994.

Cowboys afghan August 2013

I bought the pattern for this blanket off of Etsy. I just went to find the link to post here and it is no longer available. It didn't really have a pattern to follow for the background. I used an afghan stitch and then followed the graph that was sent with the pattern for the star and letters. I cross-stitched those into the finished blanket:

 This is for my Son-In-Law Scott. For no particular reason except that I found this pattern and wanted to try it and he is a fan. Oh, and he wanted a blanket that his toes didn't poke through. The afghan stitch is perfect for that problem. Very thick.

A couple of new projects

Fingerless gloves. I am teaching a friend how to crochet and I find that when I teach someone a crochet pattern it is best if I just crochet along with them. So this is the first project we made. These are the ones I made. My friend did a great job on hers also. I'm very proud of how quickly she has caught on. Our current project is a soft hat. Both of us have gotten frustrated with the type of yarn we are using, but I think she will be happy with her finished project.

I made this scarf for me! The first time I think I have ever made myself something to wear. I actually thought that it was the same color as the fingerless gloves. Imagine my surprise when I put them next to each other and the gloves are a gold color and the scarf is a tan color...huh??? Oh well, I'm sure I can find someone who would like some fingerless gloves. Their arms need to be a bit skinny though as I think they are a bit tight on me.

I'm having some friends over for lunch on Thursday and I wanted to send a little somethin somethin home with them. I found a pattern for a bookmark that I was then able to embroider their names onto. I added the tassel to the bookmark since the pattern didn't have one and I like tassels. I think I might make my Bible study women each one with their name on it. I might try to find another alphabet to cross-stitch into it though, this one is a bit plain. The problem is they are small and so I need an alphabet that uses just a few squares per letter. I'm sure there is one out there. I don't know if I like the yellow name for Leslie's. The yellow around the edges makes the bookmark "pop" but the name is a bit hard to read. But I'm not taking it out so hope she likes it ;)

Scarf and Fingerless Gloves-December 2012

So I'm kicking myself! I made about 12 scarf and mitten sets for Christmas and didn't take any pictures! I made them for my Bible Study ladies and this set I made for the winner of a contest I was co-hosting on my Edifying and Edgy blog. Each set was a different color and a different pattern. I made one other set of fingerless gloves for one of the younger girls in my Bible Study. I also made all of the girls in the family scarves and either mittens or fingerless gloves so that would make 7 other sets. And then I made all of the little boys beard hats. They were so cute in them. How did I forget to take pictures??? Crazy!

My current project is a Dallas Cowboys afghan for my son-in-law. I bought the pattern on Etsy. The first time I ever bought one from there. We'll see how it goes :)

Christmas 2012

You can't really tell in the picture, but this is kind of wavy looking for "real". I'm happy with the majority of it, but the starting row is a bit rough.

This isn't going to be a Christmas present. I'm going to give it to the little girl next weekend. I saw the pattern here:Repeat Crafter Me and thought it was so cute. The little girl I am giving it to just had a birthday party all decked out in Minnie Mouse. So I had to try out the pattern. I'm not a fan of the way I sewed the buttons on(a bit sloppy). Next time I may either glue them on with a glue gun or use felt circles instead of buttons. I'm not sure how safe the buttons will be for little ones.
