Wonder Woman Buddy

This is the finished doll. I enjoyed making her. I thought the hands were a bit hard to figure out, but eventually I managed to get them finished.

The hair was a challenge as well, but I think it turned out okay. A bit poufy, but it will work.

Apparently Disney told her that she could not sell the patterns so she is offering them free on her site. I picked up patterns for Thor, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Captain America and this Wonder Woman. This one is for a little girl's birthday. When her mom saw these she showed them to all of her children and they all want one. I'll be making the boys each one for Christmas.

April-August 2015

We went on vacation in April to my mother-in-law's in Florida. It was nice to get away, but it was also nice to spend a lot of time crocheting(we watch a lot of TV there!). I started working on Christmas projects. Love the way these turned out and I hope the little ones that get them enjoy them as well:

This one is for a 10 year old. I hope she isn't too old for the fun! The pattern is for an adult blanket and I tweaked it a bit for a smaller version. This was the last one that I made and I added a couple of rows of the yarn that has shiny tinsel like stuff in it. It made it more sparkly, but I found that the price can add up A LOT when you add the fancier yarn. The other 3 I made were less pricey to make because I didn't use the specialized yarn. In another pattern I found the yarn called for had sequins in it and each skein was over 6 bucks. I figured that each blanket would cost about $70! I love these little girls a lot, but I thought that was a bit excessive in price so that is why I looked for a pattern that was less complicated and less strain on the pocketbook.

This is the back side of the blanket. I like the way it has an open flap for the hips and waist, and then a cocoon for the feet.

 I made each one a pillow case to go with their blanket. I had so much left over yarn that I had to do something with it!

This one is for one of my granddaughters. She loves all things bright! She is 6, but will be 7 by the time Christmas rolls around.

This one is for a family friend. I think the blue fits her nicely. She is 4.

This one is for my other granddaughter who loves the color purple. She is 4. 

I'm looking forward to seeing the girls open all of these when we get together on Christmas Eve this year. Now to figure out something to make all of the boys...

I'll be giving these to family friends when we gather for Christmas Eve. I thought I would give this and maybe a bucket of popcorn for a couples date night package. While I suppose you could put a bottle of champagne or wine in this, I will be using Sparkling Cider. I used some extra yarn I had from one of the girls blankets(the stuff that has the tinsel in it). Off to work on more projects! I'm working on 9 personal tote bags for my ladies Bible Study group. I have 2 finished so far. I will be working on slippers and such as well. And still thinking about something for the little boys in the family...

Name Doilies: Christmas 2014

I made one of these for my parents 50th anniversary and the rest I made for Christmas. I think everyone liked them. The only problem is that I crochet so large that even though I used thin thread they still turned out rather big. So I couldn't frame them like I would have liked to because it would have cost a fortune. I cut out foam board(the stuff you use to post science fair projects), covered the boards with black material and then mounted the doily on the material. I figured the person I gave them to could either frame or attach a string to hang them if they would like. Here is the pattern book I used:

I mapped out each name onto graph paper using the letter patterns in this book.

Peppermint Throw

I absolutely love the way this throw turned out! Honestly I printed out a pattern and tried to make this but couldn't understand the pattern. I gave up on it for a while, but it just kept sticking in my mind. I thought I would try again and while looking for the pattern again I found a tutorial. The tutorial was absolutely WONDERFUL! I never once looked at the pattern after watching the tutorial. Step by step video instructions. Excellent!

Christmas 2014

I made 25 sets of these hand towel and dishcloth sets for Christmas this year. I gave each of my Bible Study women a set and then various other people I gave sets to. It took me about a month or so to complete all 25 sets. A lot of TV time! I enjoyed picking out the color combos and deciding who to give which ones to. I now have a bunch of leftover yarn that I am going to make hodgepodge ones for my kitchen.

I had bought a book with several different patterns for these hanging towels but didn't like the way they were working up for some reason or other so I found this pattern and I really like it.

Hello Kitty-September 2014

I made this Hello Kitty Amigurumi stuffed animal for my granddaughter. I thought she turned out pretty cute. The directions called for the cheeks to be made out of the brads that you use for scrapbooking, but I couldn't find the color I liked so I made the cheeks out of felt. I think it still looks cute. The directions are considered "easy" for the most part. I did find the bow a little challenging and don't think I made it the way the directions called for, but in the end it turned out to my satisfaction so that is all that matters. I learned how to do an invisible single crochet decrease which I had never seen done. The directions for doing that were not in the book so I had to look it up on the computer. I found a Youtube video showing how to do it and now I am a pro!
