My Crochet Journey So Far

I learned to crochet when I was 16. My Great Grandmother was living with us at the time. She was a prolific crocheter. I had broken up with a boyfriend and was moping around the house. My Grandmother couldn't stand it so she sat me down and taught me how to crochet. She taught me how to crochet the granny square and let me tell you that that was the HUGEST granny square afghan that anyone has ever made! I just kept going and going and going! I slowly branched out from making afghans to making sweaters and other things. I don't intend to post patterns because these are not my original designs. I just thought it would be fun to have some sort of record of what I have made and who it went to.

Christmas 2012

You can't really tell in the picture, but this is kind of wavy looking for "real". I'm happy with the majority of it, but the starting row is a bit rough.

This isn't going to be a Christmas present. I'm going to give it to the little girl next weekend. I saw the pattern here:Repeat Crafter Me and thought it was so cute. The little girl I am giving it to just had a birthday party all decked out in Minnie Mouse. So I had to try out the pattern. I'm not a fan of the way I sewed the buttons on(a bit sloppy). Next time I may either glue them on with a glue gun or use felt circles instead of buttons. I'm not sure how safe the buttons will be for little ones.

Country Star Afghan-June 2012

I made this for a friend for Christmas this year. Hope she likes it! Go HERE for the pattern. When I learned this stitch it was called an afghan stitch. Now I'm reading it and it is called the Tunisian Knit Stitch. I cross-stitched the pattern onto the lighter squares. The pattern calls for the stitches to be "duplicate" stitched. I don't know what a "duplicate" stitch is and I have always cross-stitched the pattern into the blanket after it was finished so that is the way I did this. I thought it turned out good.

June 2012

This is for my great niece Emma. I used the same pattern that I made the lapghan's with. It is a perfect baby size.

Afghan for a friend-March 2012

I made this afghan for a friend for her birthday. Unfortunately I was halfway finished with it when it dawned on me that I think her furniture is green and not blue! I'm hoping she can use it in her bedroom or guest room instead :)

Lapghans or shawls-February 2012

I decided to make several of these and hopefully find a nursing home to give them to. They can be either used as a lap robe or a shawl.

Baby Blanket-January 2012

I made this for my new little great niece Lily. She is due in March. Can't wait to see her!  I thought the little booties turned out cute too, but they will be way too big! They probably wouldn't have been so big if I hadn't combined both the pink and ivory.

Adult Sweater-November 2011

I made this sweater and purse for my mom for Christmas. She loved them both :) In case you can't tell the color in the picture they are done in black.
