Hello Kitty-September 2014

I made this Hello Kitty Amigurumi stuffed animal for my granddaughter. I thought she turned out pretty cute. The directions called for the cheeks to be made out of the brads that you use for scrapbooking, but I couldn't find the color I liked so I made the cheeks out of felt. I think it still looks cute. The directions are considered "easy" for the most part. I did find the bow a little challenging and don't think I made it the way the directions called for, but in the end it turned out to my satisfaction so that is all that matters. I learned how to do an invisible single crochet decrease which I had never seen done. The directions for doing that were not in the book so I had to look it up on the computer. I found a Youtube video showing how to do it and now I am a pro!

Flower afghan-August 2014

Made this for a friends daughter. Not very practical, but pretty and girlie. I got the flower pattern out of this book:

Then I wanted a blank square but couldn't find one in the book that I wanted to match with this so I just did this one. Then I alternated flower and plain squares to make the afghan. I thought it turned out pretty.

Avengers afghan August 2014

This is an afghan for a friends son. I messed up on it but am hoping nobody can tell :) The top of the A should line up all the way to the top but I didn't notice that until I was already finished and had tied off and tucked in ends. I wasn't going to tear it all out and if you aren't too picky I think it will be okay. I also miscounted in a couple of places so it ended sooner than it was meant to, but again I didn't figure anyone else would notice. Once again I got this chart off of the Happy Hooker Blog. The rest of the pattern is my own making and mistakes.

Captain America afghan-July 2014

This is for my grandson Timothy for his birthday in December. I have to start in the summer getting all of my Christmas and Birthday gifts made if I want to make everyone something homemade. I got the pattern for the shield for Captain America from The Happy Hooker Blog. She has patterns for all of the superhero symbols. My next project is going to be an Avengers afghan for a friends son. The shield pattern for Captain America was not my own design, but the rest of the afghan was. It turned out a bit more narrow than I would have liked, but this was my first time trying to free-style something. To add more width to it I added the red, white and blue stripes on both sides. I tried braiding the yarn and weaving it through the gaps, but didn't like that. I also tried red, white and blue tassels but I didn't like those either. I really like what I finally came up with and I think my grandson will also like it.

UPDATE: I think he likes it! It goes perfect in his room as well.

Filet Butterfly-June 2014

Can you see the butterfly? Also in each corner there is a butterfly. I thought this afghan turned out great! It is for a friends daughter. The one thing I had a problem with is that I counted wrong at one point and had to take out about 8 rows. Otherwise this made up very quickly. Much easier than I thought it would be. I'm going to try my hand at some name doily's now. We'll see how that goes.
